Well if you distribute a binary you just need to put somewhere in the
documentation of your application:

     "This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project
      for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org/)"

and
     "This product includes cryptographic software written by
      Eric Young (eay@cryptsoft.com)"

Of course it would be better if we had a complete GPL or LGPL library but the
restriction with OpenSSL does not seems very annoying... But I'm not a license
expert so I could have missed something :) (see aws-1.0/doc/openssl.license).
