[gtkada] Inability to checkout specific tags from CVS

I can't seem to checkout anything other than head

I tried a variety of approaches similar to

$cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs at libre.adacore.com:/anoncvs checkout -r 
gps-3_0_1 GtkAda

And I get something like

cvs checkout: warning: cannot open /anoncvs/CVSROOT/val-tags read/write: 
Permission denied
cvs [checkout aborted]: could not chdir to internal: Permission denied


Update needed to either the setup or CVS server on the host?
