GVD is "gvd-1.2.5-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tgz" (binary).

I've tried 2 versions of gdb:

original gdb-19991004 (gdb-4.18-11) from RedHat-6.2-i686 distribution (with
updates)
and latest??? (stable???) gdb-5.1.tar.gz (built from sources).

with same results :-(

gcc is (egcs-2.91.66 19990314)
kernel - 2.2.19enterprise

Unfortunately I cannot upgrade this distribution to a newer one
because I'm running specific software on it.
The software I'd like to debug.
