[gtkada] getting cursor out of the way

Is there anyway to hide the cursor other than the kludge i found with a 
google search of making a one pixel cursor with a transparent color??

my problem is that my glarea when it does exposearea if the cursor is 
over the widget it doest update under the cursor correctly.  it looks 
like the cursor an its mask gets drawn instead of the pixelmap i am 
blitting in.
