I'll take a look about the best way to implement this in a few days once
things calm down a bit over here. As for an extra parameter to the remove
procedures- I don't think this can be made to work quite right because
inside
the generic one does not know how to free the storage (at least
not in a pure sense) associated with the data.
In any case I'll think a bit more and then write something up.

Also probably a good idea. (Except for the fact that no one ever reads
