I have looked in vain for anywhere that I said pointers are evil.
Obviously, unbounded data structures would be impossible without dynamic
memory allocation. However, pointer errors are sufficiently common, even
for experienced developers, that pointers should never be used unless
they are necessary.

I'm sorry if my attempt to state this in a humorous manner offended you.
