[gtkada] getting info from an editable text field

hello

firstly thanks for all the help i've recieved so far

and i'm trying to have some user input with an editable text field. now i 
can do this, the only problem is that i can't actually get the text which 
has been entered by the user. the user can type there but i don't know what 
they are typing

is there a way of doing this?? or do i have to do to the extreme method of 
having a viewable text message and lots of buttons to select the different 
cases?
