Pascal,

You are absolutely correct. It turned out that opengl32.dll was more recent than
gdi32.dll. I restored the older version of opengl32.dll. Now, it worked
perfectly. Thanks for your help.

Well this looks like opengl32.dll and gdi32.dll are no in sync! Either you
have installed manually the DLL or this is a Microsoft trick (i.e. you could
have installed a soft that has changed the gdi32.dll version which is now not
anymore compatible with opengl32.dll...
