Compiling GPS is indeed tricky. And yes you need GtkAda. Apart from that: 
Sometimes you even need a newer compiler. I have yet to find a compiler which 
can compile GPS 4.0.1. Remember that you need some of the compiler sources to 
compile GPS and those sources have to match your compiler.

Also you need the right version of GtkAda. The

glide_kernel-modules.ads:243:31: "Dock_Side" not declared in "MDI"

errormessage suggest that your GtkAda is wrong.

All in all: compiling GPS is a mayor endeavour.
