[gps-users] Can't Debug under GPS

I have a new Fedora Core 3 installation and the current snapshot of 
GPS.  I can't debug my simple program from inside GPS but I can from 
the command line.  The error I get talks about        /dev/ptypd: No 
such file or directory.

I have no idea what a ptypd is.  Looking in my /dev directory or using 
locate doesn't turn up anything like that.

Is there some way around this?  Should a "ptypd" come with my FC 3 
setup?  Is it available externally?  Or does some other device take its 
place?
