Be extremely careful when you install the linux binary version of gps... in fact, if you install it in /usr, there are great chances that it will overwrite your gtk lib files ! This happened to me and this is not funny as lot of dependencies now fails (libpng.so.2 does not exist any more on Mdk9.1 as an example...).
