Dear GAP members,

Please allow me to echo an announcement that was made for the first time back in July 2012, but that may have not reached all of the GAP community. At the risk of repeating old news (for which I hope you will forgive me), I wish to draw your attention to the continuation of the "Ada Way" student programming contest, launched in 2010 by Ada-Europe (www.ada-europe.org<http://www.ada-europe.org>).

The first theme of the Ada Way contest was to build a software simulator of a football (soccer) match. The core of the simulator had to be programmed in Ada. The student team that won this contest submitted a high-quality piece of software, which was later made publicly available on the Ada Way webpage (www.ada-europe.org/AdaWay <http://www.ada-europe.org/AdaWay>).

That reference implementation is now proposed for a "Try and Beat Me" open-ended challenge. As mentioned in a related press release:

"Any student team willing to take that challenge is invited to make a submission that attempts to improve over the reference implementation under any of the evaluation criteria listed on the Ada Way page. On 15 May of every year, any such new submission will be evaluated and the best one will be awarded a minor prize and will replace the previous reference submission in the continuation of the try-and-beat-me challenge."

You'll find complete information in this press release (http://www.ada-europe.org/press/20120730-AdaWay.pdf) and in the Ada Way web page.

A good initiative to motivate students to work in team, to face challenging issues and to have fun learning Ada!

Finally, a word about the prize. Among other benefits, the prize facilitates the winning student team to attend the Ada-Europe conference. An opportunity for them to learn more about Ada.

Cheers,
Jorge.
