Diego,

as far as I recall from the days of Green and early Ada the reason for the
lack of empty brackets is a (IMHO mis-guided) attempt to make enumeration
literals and parameterless functions interchangeable and semantically
indistinguishable in their application. (Once you get used to the model,
it is semantically pretty nifty, but readability really suffered from it).
