This is indeed the case. Since AWS 1.4 the default is to not flush the buffer
after each write (I'm only speaking about standard log, the error log is
always flushed). This is for performance reasons. Note that this default
behavior can be changed when starting the log module (see Auto_Flush Start's
parameter).
