No, I managed to get that part right. Building it without "-largs -lssl 
-lcrypto" results in console output like:

	ben@localhost src 01:49pm $ ./dyndns

	raised PROGRAM_ERROR : AWS has been configured without SSL support.

Does it matter which OpenSSL tarball I installed from? (I used 0.9.7b.)
